Breast Cancer Month: No Reference to the Pill nor to Breastfeeding

Sunday, October 9th, 2011

Every October we suffer through a blitz of pink in which the promoters say not a word about the Pill causing breast cancer nor a word that breastfeeding reduces the risk of breast cancer.  If everyone wrote at least to his or her own daily paper this month about these matters, it might open a least a few eyes.  And wouldn’t it be helpful if the papers would tell us about any prior use of oral contraceptive pills when a celebrity is associated with breast cancer.  That might do for breast cancer awareness what the death of Edward R. Murrow did for smoking and lung cancer.

Regarding the use of the Pill, here is a quote from Dr. Kahlenborn’s “The Pill and Breast Cancer” brochure:   “A comprehensive meta-analysis published in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings in October 2006 found that 21 out of 23 retrospective studies done since 1980 showed that women who took oral contraceptives prior to the birth of their first child sustained a 44% average increased risk of developing pre-menopausal breast cancer.  This risk rose to 52% for women who took the Pill for at least four years prior to the birth of their first child.”

For a good explanation of how hormonal contraception, abortion and other risks relate to breast cancer, read a free, online 22-page booklet on this topic.  Go to “links” at the NFPI website and scroll down and click Breast Cancer Prevention Institute under “Breast Cancer.”

Sheila and John Kippley

PS:  Below is a letter Sheila sent to our newspaper on October 5th.  As of October 10th, it was not published.  No surprise.

“In addition to the general advice offered by Laura Nikolaides’ Oct. 5th letter to “maintain a healthy weight, exercise and limit alcohol consumption,” there are two very specific things a woman can do to reduce her risk of breast cancer.
1. Never take the Pill for any reason.  The World Health Organization in 2005 classified the Oral Contraceptive Pill as a Class 1 carcinogen.  Research shows that women who take the Pill have, on average, a 44% increased risk of breast cancer compared to women who never used the Pill.
2. Breastfeed your babies exclusively for six months and then continue with complementary feeding after that.  Each month of breastfeeding helps to reduce a mother’s risk of breast cancer.  The American Institute for Cancer Research reviewed almost 100 studies and found convincing evidence that breastfeeding lowered the risk of breast cancer in women.
The easiest way to understand the risks for breast cancer is to search the “Breast Cancer Prevention Institute” and download their booklet, “Breast Cancer: Risks and Prevention.”  It is excellent!”

HHS Dictates Free Birth Control

Why the Federal government should not distribute or mandate free birth control

1.  Birth control is a personal and optional choice.  Paying for it should be strictly a matter of personal responsibility.

2.  Taxpayers should not pay for optional drugs, devices, etc.  This includes birth control drugs and devices, and it also includes Viagra-type medications.  It also includes dietary supplements.  There are too many serious health care needs that can scarcely be funded.  The public treasury cannot support optional choices.

3.  Oral contraceptives are a recognized Class 1 carcinogen. Their connection with breast cancer has been demonstrated.  The government should not distribute or encourage or mandate the distribution of this known carcinogen.

4.  Government involvement in the distribution of a known carcinogen sets up the government taxpayers for an enormous class action suit from breast cancer victims in the future.

5.  Any sort of mandate regarding this known carcinogen will raise serious conscience issues.  Some will be based on health.  Others will have conscientious objections to the distribution of drugs that are also potentially abortifacient; others will have conscientious objections to distributing any unnatural form of birth control.  The “conscience clause” that exempts Catholic institutions is just a bad joke.  To qualify, the institution would have to serve only Catholic clients.

6.  One of the effects of the Pill and other forms of hormonal birth control is the thinning of the lining of the uterus.  This makes it much more difficult if not impossible for the newly conceived baby to implant.  That means that hormonal birth control has the potential to cause an early abortion whenever ovulation and conception have occurred.  That’s what is called the abortifacient potential of hormonal birth control.  It’s like playing Russian roulette with a multi-chambered gun pointed at the newly conceived baby.

7.  Government-funded and/or government-mandated free birth control increases the rate of fornication and adultery.  It gives the impression that sexual union is simply a normal part of everyday life, whether married or not.  The great increase in sexually transmitted diseases and out-of-wedlock pregnancies and births did not just happen.  These have happened as a result of the sexual revolution based on the societal approval of non-marital sex as well as the societal acceptance of the use of unnatural methods of birth control within marriage.  While the government cannot stop sexual immorality, it should not be encouraging it by paying for it.  The maxim holds true; You get what you pay for, and right now the taxpayer is paying both to promote the sexual revolution and to deal with its many harmful effects.  Read more on the sexual revolution.

Subtle Attacks Against Family and Life

Sunday, August 14th, 2011

The two paragraphs below are taken from the document named above and is written by Jaime L. Cardinal Sin, July 9, 2001. (All capitalized words below are the Cardinal’s.)

And what could be made out of AIDS education?  It is sad that the incidence of AIDS is increasing in our beloved country [Philippines].  We have to be compassionate towards AIDS patients.  As with any other disease, the best approach to stopping AIDS is prevention.  But could the transmission of the AIDS virus (the HIV) really be stopped by using what some call “safe sex”, that is, the condom?  Scientific studies show that condoms may fail to stop both sperm, virus and other microorganism causing sexually-transmitted diseases due to various reasons, such as breakage, leakage, slippage, old age, improper storage and the naturally occurring minute pores present in all latex materials.

Thus, maybe it would be best to request or even require condom advertisers to state something like, “WARNING: CONDOMS DO NOT GUARANTEE PROTECTION FROM AIDS OR STD’S”.  Such a notice is not only scientifically accurate, but is a necessary protection for and even a right of unknowing consumers.  Remember that for the same reason warnings are placed in other products, such as “CIGARETTE SMOKING IS DANGEROUS FOR YOUR HEALTH”, “DRINK MODERATELY”, and “BREASTMILK IS BEST FOR BABIES UNTIL TWO YEARS OLD”.  Along this line, it might also be good to require chemical contraceptives to put warnings such as, PILLS HAVE BEEN SHOWN TO INCREASE INCIDENCE OF BREAST CANCER, or PILLS CAUSE ABORTION BY NOT ALLOWING IMPLANTATION.  All this is a matter of telling the truth!  And the truth shall set us free!  Free from all the evils these products bring, not only physically, but also spiritually.
